Introduction
I purchased a heavily modified CL Type S with components all from CompTech (now no longer in business, what a disappointment) and dealer installed. This vehicle had the somewhat rare 6 speed transmission and navigation system.
Exterior Styling - 8
Looked much better once it was lowered, more aggressive exhaust outlets installed, brake calipers painted red, and rear badging removed.
Interior Styling - 9
Only complaint was the lack luster look of instrument panel lighting. Excellently styled seats both front and back.
Exterior Build/Materials Quality - 10
Typical Honda/Acura high quality craftsmanship.
Interior Build/Materials Quality - 10
Not even one issue!
Engine Performance - 10
The stock CL Type S motor is very entertaining. The CL I owned was upgraded with a supercharger, exhaust upgrades including headers, intake upgrade, ECU upgrade which was dyno tested to put 325 hp to the wheels and 400hp at the crank.
Handling/Braking - 8
Wasn't terribly confident pushing that large of a car around the twisty roads, even with an upgraded sport suspension and sways.
Fuel Efficiency - 8
Standard CL Type S returns respectable figures, mine was a bit of a guzzler...
Available Features/Options - 8
Didn't need much beyond its standard configuration. There is only one option, on all CL's, Navigation.
Cost of Ownership - 10
Great vehicle to own and maintain.
Value - 9
I would have to say that Acura did a good job in providing their customers a lot of car for the money, keep it up Acura!
Conclusion
A very nice mid-sized coupe which handled acceptably.
