Swiftly following yesterday’s teaser, the Wolfsburg based company introduced its most powerful seventh generation Golf to date – the 2014 Golf R.

Up until now, since its release last year Golf has been only treated to the GTI performance related variants and Volkswagen seemed really keen on focusing on the efficient low-power consumption, hybrid and electric offsprings of the Golf.

Our hearts are back in place now, as the company released the first official details and photos with the bad attitude performance loving “R” version, due for a timely public debut in Frankfurt next month at IAA 2013.

As usual, the 2014 Golf R is more powerful than its predecessor, with the familiar 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine churning out 300 bhp (221 kW), 30 more than what offered last generation. Also, the company evidences that its also 18% more fuel efficient – ok, good info, but who will really buy it for that?!
