2008 Altima Coupe
I spotted a parked 2008 Nissan Altima coupe! Up until I saw it today I didn’t know that such a car was in the works ( I haven’t been keeping up lately ). At first I thought I was looking at the Infiniti G37 which I had seen on this site a couple of days ago. I got down from my car and took some photos and a short video. I didn’t realize it was a Nissan until I looked at its signature grill. And I didn’t realize that it was an Altima till I stopped at a traffic light behind a 2007 4-door Altima, took out my cell phone, and compared the pics I had to the tail light of car in front of me. Really interesting car.

Doesn't look very gracefull in white. And once again, the new G37 and the new Altima Coupe look like clones. Not good.

At least it's better than the Solara, but it's VERY similar to the G37 from the side.
I give it a positive for its nice lines, but the light clusters deter me.

I saw it at the LA Auto Show a few months ago, I too felt it looks too close to the Infinit G. But in person the coupe is larger than the "G" and looked like cheap knockoff of the G.
If the price point stays at the sedan level it could be a home run.

I'm glad we've seen this. Yes, the general shapes/sides are similar, but this looks nothing like the new G37.

This car looks like a refreshed G35 and close looks to the new G37. One difference is the drive train, this is a front and the other rear wheel drive, other than the price difference of course. So the question is, why the hell for the same company to introduce a car that would hurt its own lexury market?

I think Nissan/Infiniti may have made a mistake in styling these two so closely together. People want to buy an Infiniti because it's supposed to distinguish itself to attract BMW/MB/Audi/Lexus buyers. The fact that they practically look identical will not help that cause.
Not to mention that neither is very attractive. I'm still very sad about the design of the G37.

I'll not consider the purchase of any car with a CVT unless the manufacturer proves conclusively that the belt in the CVT cannot break or shred even if the car is abused. Similarly, I am reluctant to consider the purchase of any vehicle with cylinder deactivation technology as I have not yet seen proof of fail-safe design.
I simply cannot understand why Nissan put almost all its transmission eggs in the CVT basket.

Any man-made component will have wear and tear but the reason behind CVT as they were introduced earlier in the 80'sand 90's is to reduce friction between motor and tranny, and no power loss but a gain of 8%to 12% in fuel economy. Nissan went with CVT because there are infinite gears instead of introducing 6speed 7speed or 8speed automatic transmission. Hopefully this will help some. But I still cant wait to see the coupe in person.

This coupe is hideous when compare to Toyota Solara, period. The new Altima gen is hideous compare to the last Altima gen. The back of this Nissan Altima coupe/sedan is just bland huge.

Yes, i agree. The front is nicer than the Camery Solara, but the rear end is just horrible!!! I mean the lines and that "rectangular" look just do not work for me. From the side, the tail-lamps look rather nice, but straight on from the back, they are just too big.

The Solara is a hideous POS. It looks like a heavy old-man's car with two doors ripped off to make it a coupe. If you like Southern Florida retirement coupes, then the Solara must be your ride. The Altima Coupe looks great, can't wait to pick one up!

Yeah we know that Toyota has spent extensive design and engineering time on the Solara. Is that why is has the old 3.3L V-6 from the RX330. Hmmm...

This is one boring coupe. Even though we can't see the front-end, we can assume that it's no different from the sedan, which is already boring. I don't know why some are comparing this to the new G37. The G37 looks way better than this.

i think this car looks HOT for an altima. its sad the rear looks better than g37 and this car will definitely hurt sales of g37 the same way the 2002 altima hurt sales of maxima. ever since altima grew in size it kinda killed the point of the maxima. it was almost identicle. this car is to g37 what a grand marquis is to a lincoln towncar.
i think it will sell like crazy and will be soooo played out on the road. every other damn car on the road will be an altima. great for nissan to bad for g37.
this coupe is far better looking than toyota solara.
