2008 Subaru Impreza WRX: The Japanese Car The German’s Wish They Made
Here is a funny commercial made by “DDB Canada” that shows the jealousy of German engineers who wish they had a chance to work on the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX. It shows four German engineers taking the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX out for a joyride around the track.

The 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX is powered by a 2.5 liter turbocharged engine that produces 224 horsepower and starts at $24,350.

That's what some thought about the Lexus LS460 and now we see that is not true with it's bland styling.

The evo always loses, besides that mitzo is a dying manufacturer

The Impreza has always been ugly, from bug-eye to pig-nose, to blandness. I'd much rather buy one of the Impreza's competitors...even the Civic.

I like that little Impreza but it is not available with leather seats so I don't want it. The Forester has frameless side glass which invites downstream reliability issues re air wind noise from air leaks. I really like the new Tribeca but Subaru literature does not disclose what type of center differential it uses and states that the rear differential is an open one. If the Tribeca center differential is a viscous type as I suspect then they should say so. Subaru could have at least offered an optional Torsen LSD for the rear.

Center diff is always viscous in Subaru.

Not true TehShibbs -- the 2007 SUbaru Imprexa WRX spec sheet states that the STI has a driver controlled centre differential with manual and automatic mode and cam-type mechanical limited slip differential. The front diff on the STI is a helical type LSD and the rear is a Torsen LSD diff. It's too bad all Subaru AWD systems are not the same. The best system seems to have been reserved for the WRX STI.

As for the 2008 Tribeca, I have seen some posings to the effect that the center differential on that model is a planetary gear type which, if true, would make it similar to the Torsen and the Tribeca AWD system as good as the Audi Quattro. Please note however that not all Quattros are the same either. The A3 has a cheaper AWD system yet Audi still calls it Quattro thereby making the promise of the Quattro brand meaningless.

ronnsscooby, please note that I only mentioned Forester because we looked at it as a possible small SUV that my wife wanted. We are not interested in a performance car as such -- simply seeking comfort and adequate performance.

The forester is not a performance car.
