2010 Porsche Panamera Spied In Vegas
Porsche engineers were out in full gear, with a parade of at least 5 prototypes, giving photographers more chances to take pictures of the Panamera. The entry-level powerplant will be Volkswagen's 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine with 300 bhp, while Porsche's own drivetrain will be a direct-injection eight-cylinder petrol engine, available in naturally-aspirated guise (350 bhp) and with twin-turbo (560 bhp). In addition – we’re also expecting the Panamera S version. The interior — although apparently still in its prototype stage — is highlighted by a center-mounted LCD screen and a typical Porsche gauge cluster. The exteriors seem to vary for instance some have exhausts similar to the Porsche Boxter, while some have quad-exhausts-seems the quad exhaust is for the turbo version. The Panamera is scheduled for an official presentation at the 2009 Geneva show. As of now, I personally don't like the car all that much, but in the end it should be good…hey it's a Porche. Below I've included Panamera spy pictures from different times. What do you think of this car?[Source:Left Lane News]

it is not a Porsche that we are used to. and personally, i don't like the way it looks. obesity is word came to my mind when i saw those pictures. it will take some real engineering to match its performance to its price tag since GTR has raised the bar.

That is the ugliest piece of kraut Ive ever seen in my entire life. Its sad that the GTR is making porsche resort to 911 stationwagons.

Camo aside, its proportions are pretty awkward at best, I dont know about this one Porsche but Im sure it will be an excellent driving large car

What???
This car will never be cross shopped with a GTR.

I'm excited and optimistic about the Panamera! I can't make a appearance evaluation because the only parts of the car that are truly undisguised/not camoflauged are the tires and mirrors.

this car is starting to seem alot like the Camaro it seems like it shouldve been out by now, its almost getting old already, its not even out yet, and i have that nothing new feeling about it.....but i really hope it ends up looking better than the spy shots make it seem, because if its going to look like the spy shots this will be one ugly car.....

Yeah...I think porsche made a huge mistake letting everyone in on the overly long developement of this car's design. Sure its got cladding all over it, but the camo needed to hide the design much more than it does, and I'm not sure if any other car except for the GT R, has taken this long to come out. I'm already waiting for the redesign.

I've been worried about the back end from the start and it doesn't seem to be getting much better. Bangle must be moonlighting for Porsche!

Tell me about it. The rear end is the one part of this car i can guarantee that i will not like. What is it with this company? They produce such beautiful coupes but the horrible suv they have running around and now a sedan.

everyone does realize that there are TONS of body panels overlayed on these prototypes...which means the actual design of the car is hidden below them...kinda hard to give any opinion on the car other than I don't like the blue color it's painted.

Porsche should consider cutting out the whole "entry level" models with under 400HP. Its going to go against Porsche's image. Thats quite weak, 300hp, 350hp. I think the power should be somewhere around 425hp for the entry, 560hp for the mid=level, and 612hp for the top.
But of course, Porsche is thinking sales rather than performance image.

425hp is unnecessary for a base model; 350 would be more than enough but 300hp won't be.

why shouldn't anyone be able to buy a basic carrera, cayman, or boxster? i don't know of anyone who has ever seen a base model of these and said "it's a poser's porsche, it doesn't even have 400hp; i no longer respect porsce."
porsche predominately makes small, light sports cars for which 400hp could even be excessive. and when was porsche's first 400hp production model? probably not too long ago.

300 hp is weak??? 10 years ago 300 hp is what AMGs and Turbo Porsches and RS Audis had.

I own a 964 with a measly 247hp the people eating my dust seem to think it's enough... Mag tested 0-60 in 4.8 in 1990.

The back sort of makes the car look like a Dodge Magnum type station-wagon. As the wraps slowly come of this car I'm getting more & more worried that it's more on the level of a Cayenne design, rather than the beautiful 911.
Anyways my fingers are still crossed for this car, I've been anticipating its unveiling for some time now.

It looks really, really enormous to me -- ponderous even. I'm sure it will be a good performer but I'm sensing huge blindspots and a claustrophobic interior. I wonder why Porsche choose to do a hatchback rather than a traditional sedan? It seems to be awkwardly proportioned.
I'll be interested to see how it does in the US. We Americans don't like 5-door hatchbacks as a rule - and this Panamera along with BMW's X-6 will be the litmus test of whether Americans will finally embrace a 5-door.

Porsche should not go down this road. What's next... something along the lines of Jaguar's X-type station wagon?

In a world of politically correct, designed by the comittee new cars, it about time some one got the nerve to do something daring and different! I actually like this car so far. Porsche knows that they aren't going to appeal to everyone, and decided to deliver something other than another bar of soap! More power to them!

1) This has 6000 SUX written all over it ("Robocop" fans know what I'm talking about: http://sux6000.ytmnd.com/)
2)An entry-level VeeDub 6!? Must we relive the 914?

And knowing Porsche - grossly overpriced (especially for a rebadged VW).

As a Porsche owner, I have to say I'm disappointed in the design but not overly surprised. Porsche seems to be hit or miss in their design. Hit: 997, 965!, 914. Miss: 968!, 928.
To be honest, I dont really care what it looks like. So long as it sells well, Porsche can take the money and dump it into Boxter/911 development like they do with the Cayenne. Something has to be done about that thorn from Japan.
