The big news from the Jeep booth at this year’s North American International Auto show is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Jeep’s hot-seller gets a thorough mid-cycle refresh for the 2014 model year with a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6, an eight-speed automatic transmission, revised front and rear fascias, and an updated interior. The 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 isn’t left out of the fun either, with an eight-speed automatic of its own and a new launch control system...

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets an available 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 produced by VM Motori (co-owned by Fiat and GM). The engine will produce 240 hp, 420 lb-ft or torque, while achieving 30 mpg highway (good for a 720-mile range). The new diesel, rated to tow 7400 pounds, uses urea after-treatment and a diesel particulate filter to meet emissions standards. It’ll go on sale in March in Summit and Overland trims.
