Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi’s head of technical development, was talking trucks—specifically, crossovers—at the 2014 Paris auto show last week, and he apparently had a lot to say. He told Indian Autos Blog that the second-generation Audi Q7 (rendered above) would make its debut at the 2015 Detroit auto show in January, before adding that the Q3 could soon receive a few tweaks, too.

Hackenberg reportedly said, “If you make a trip to Detroit, you’ll see it,” referring to the new Q7. Unfortunately, no further details about the Q7 or its production schedule were provided. We have a fair idea already of what to expect from Audi’s next-generation three-row crossover, but it would have been nice to glean some more detailed on-sale timing.

In related news, a face-lifted Q3 (is it that time already?) could appear before the Detroit show, with Indian Autos Blog quoting Hackenberg saying, “I think we’re having the face lift in November/December,” in a separate report. As with the Q7 news, no other Q3 details were provided, such as where the little crossover—which currently is going on sale here in the U.S. for the first time—might be seen first, but if Audi plans to debut its face-lifted Q3 at an auto show, that kind of timing would make it ripe for an appearance in Los Angeles next month. It looks like Audi soon will be Q-uite busy on the crossover front (we couldn’t resist).
