The Diesel Driver is reporting that GM may launch a diesel-powered Cruze by 2013. This could be a game-changer since the Cruze oil burner would reportedly get 50 MPG, putting it on the level of the Prius.

"Today, a new car buyer in the U.S. looking for a diesel can choose from models from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. That could soon change if General Motors starts to offer the Chevrolet Cruze, currently the most popular new car in the U.S., with a diesel engine."
