As The New York Times reported in early February this year, automobile recalls have reached record levels. In 2014, more than 62 million vehicles were recalled — a higher total than the previous three years combined.
It would be nice if I could tell you that it’s not really a big deal. If I could tell you there’s been no loss of life or that the recalls were for trivial things like your kid’s college decal just will not adhere to the rear window. But some of the defects have cost lives. And in some cases, the automakers knew there was danger before the cars were ever released for sale.
