AUTO SPIES VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: The feature that makes you ask 'Why doesn't every car have this?'
Because we see so many cars and trucks with 'gee-whiz' features we tend to get spoiled here at AutoSpies.com.

But every once in a while, a company will truly amaze us with some of the developments that actually make it into the final vehicles.

In the case of the new S-Class that THING is 'Night view assist'

Yea, we already hear the naysayers chirping that Cadillac had this a while ago but trust us, it sure didn't work as well as this!

Take a look for yourself as we scoop the world and get you the first video demo of the new S-Class system.

No having to look to the right at a nav screen version, just straight ahead into the gauge cluster.

Dear Mercedes-Benz engineering team,

The drivers of the world thank your for your efforts!

Here's the video and you WILL be impressed.

..we don't make the worst. I believe that title goes to the Russians. Anyways, I look forward to when they finally are able to integrate this into the windsheld though illumination of carbon nanotubes mixed into the glass itself.

Then maybe I'll order the option.

When I first saw the above video and another similar video not long ago, I thought to myself that this is slick technology. When I viewed the clip above a couple more times, it seems as though--in the video--that Mercedes is comparing visibility between the infra-red night view assist system ("lower view") and halogen lights ("upper view"), not the much brighter HID xenon lights. If this assessment is correct, then Mercedes is using a bit of marketing sleight of hand to "demonstrate" the much superior view of the road with their night view assist system. Since Mercedes offers xenon lighting on their vehicles, I would like to see how superior--if at all--the infra-red night view assist system is when compared to HID xenon lighting. THAT would be a fairer comparison.
