I'd take that Gallardo as well. Everyone knows how big a piece of trash that Z06 is.

All of these cars have their strengths and weaknesses. All of them are fast and impressive in their own way. There is "no winner" is 100% right.

For me, it's a tie between the Porsche and the Corvette ZO6 in first, closely followed by the Ferrari F430, Lambo. Gallardo, Ford GT and then the Viper. Never liked the Viper.

None of these are really super cars...

my order:

1. Porsche - I love Porsche
2. Ferrari - Flashy
3. Lamborghini - Nice, I love VW family
4. Ford - Love the heritage (4x Leman Winner)
5. Dodge - Its really a German car, but its ok
6. Chevrolet - Not to crazy about it...

Anyways, super cars from Europe:

1. Bugatti Veyron
2. Dauer 962LM
3. Koenigsegg CCX

American Supercars:

1. Saleen S7
2. SSC Aero

As its hardly a secret that with the visitors here this site should be called "EurocarSpies.com," because the universal "auto" part is really a guise. The religious adherence to all things European is very apparent.

If one is brand shopping, onlooker perception rules the day and the Euro cars get the nod even if their official service reports are atrocious. (If I could only keep my MB's out of the shop long enough to be appreciated by others!)

However, pound-per-pound, bang for the buck, many American cars do more than hold their own. GM for instance has a few aspects of technology and advancement which need to be noted. In particular, the Corvette/XLR platform heralds head-up display, magnetic shocks, good reliability and power all at great prices and with details that no cars anywhere in their class can state.

Corvette, as a prime example , especially Z06, stands out.

When's the last time someone knew of an import with 500 plus horses, priced under a $100K, that did not even suffer from a gas-guzzler's tax? Anyone? How about an under $70K car that requires at least a $150K plus Euro sports car to even *consider* competing with it in performance?

Considering performance for the price, Gallardo has more power, with 492 horsepower (well more than the 395-hp Ferrari 360 Modena or the 456-hp Porsche 911 GT2), but it has all-wheel drive as well.

Still, this $175,000 Lambo learns the performance to price lesson from this $65,000 Z06.

Like the one posting above states, real supercars are Enzo, SLR, Veyron, F1 McLaren (BMW), Saleen, etc.

The Saleen wasn't included so weren't the others. It is obvious the Ferrari and Lambo are going to be favorites.

Wasn't a big fan of Ferrari until the F430. That one takes the crown for me. Before the F430 I would have chosen Lambo.

... but since, unfortunately, money IS an object, I may very well be putting it on a Z06. I could buy 3 of 'em for one F430.

Rupert, would you then call the Lambo a "race" car? I think not. None of these are "race" cars. Their limited to street standards so their called "sports cars". Confusing isn't it?

A muscle car could also be called a Sports car because of it's high performance; even then it's still not a race car because of what's under the hood. There's lots of aspects to a car being able to compete against the best.

I believe if you compare the Lamborgini's, Ferrari's, and Porsche's to the Bugatti's, Dauer's, and Koenigsegg CCX's they wouldn't be considered supercars. The design and look of them are totally different than the Italian's and Germans.

In the end who really cares. It's the numbers that show not the price that matters. It's the quality of the product, not just sheer power of their V8/V10/V12 engines that truly make a car great. If it's not balanced well the car is a failure.

IMO their all nice cars respectively. Don't hate, just appreciate all the designers and companies who can come up with cars in different price ranges with similar performance.

You just don't get it, do you? No-one here is a communist. We are 9mainly0 car enthusiasts who all share a similar opinion when it comes to American cars:

They are not up to the standard of the Japanese and Europeans.

They have sub-par interior quality, dynamically they lag behind, technically speaking they are out-dated, and styling-wise they are bland and derivative.

The Z06 has a push-rod motor and leaf-spring rear suspension!

According to Britain's EVO magazine, (who specialise in performance cars), the Ford GT is a VERY good car, and a true rival for the Italian duo.

The Z06 isn't that good on anything other than a smooth road, and the Viper is a heavy tank which just happens to have massive grunt.

For performance, I'd choose the F430, as much as I hate Ferrari's. For the looks, name, and quality, I'd choose the Lambo. Out of both, I'd wouldn't choose any. The Gallardo SE would be my choice, it is quicker than the 430. I do love Corvette's though.

People, you have to see where the information is coming from. As I would assume that you all don't spend 100% of your time on this site, some of you probably read R&T and or C&D. As you know about certain people on this site, each one of those magazines are a little more biased towards a market or a car company (or two).

It's comparisons like this, which has lead me away from diving too deep into either of those or other magazines. No one can do a true comparison or than the one time C&D did one with I believe almost every sport/super car. And that was years ago.

There will come a day when American cars will gain more respect from the masses.

Still would take the Porsche though. :)

Yeah I don't consider this a supercar competition. The Viper and Corvette are not supercars. Maybe the GT might be but it's hard to say.

So with those three out of the way I'd prefer either the Lambo or Ferrari design wise. Driving wise I'd go with the Porsche. American cars are no competition!

agent63, for me a sports car means a car that has some sports intention, it is light, nimble, agile and fast. a dodge viper is heavy, has truck-like steering, isn't very agile but it is fast. so it is a fast, heavy car. a muscle car. a lambo is mid-engined, nimble etc.
and d3wade? communist? firstly, wtf? and secondly, why is there always an assumption that communists hate america? in soviet russia, they idolised america (and were pretty scared of its power), tried to make everything like it. but with stalin in charge. i'm sure china wants to be like america, otherwise there wouldn't be a demand for mcdonalds, levis and cars.
and why do we make you sick? that is such an over-statement, anybody else hear the words drama queen? american cars aren't good compared to their supposed competition (although in reality some represent v good value for money, like the corvette or tahoe)
buying american doesn't make you more of an american (i'm not a huge fan of obsessive patriotism anyway) and buying non-american doesn't make you (as you would say d3wade) a prissy no-good nancy city boy. go back to your ponticrap, splodge or lord (i need a better car) and stay there.
