Apple has recently hired Doug Betts, an auto manufacturing executive that worked for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, according to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal. That could fall in line with the year’s troubling reports that Apple was mulling an entry into the automotive industry field by way of designing its own electric car, potentially with autonomous features – though the company has been mum on the subject for months. The hiring of Betts will surely entice speculators further, potentially because he has a large expertise in the field of automotive manufacturing, not just sales – so the company would have a hard time playing the CarPlay angle – their integrated system that takes the iOS operating system to any vehicle’s built-in dashboard.
