Audi 2008 A4 officially revealed
Breaking, everything you wanted to know about the A4. Scheduled to make its world debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, we can finally show you official pictures of Audi’s all-new A4 sedan. At first glance, the car could be mistaken for its predecessor but on closer inspection we can see that it features shorter overhangs up front as well as a longer bonnet and wheelbase. This in effect gives the car more road presence and a much tougher stance when compared with the model it replaces. Read Article

Nice job on the interior, very much A6 inspired.

Trunk "lid" looks similar to the Passat, and the tailights got the new 3 series treatment, which is popping up on other cars (new WRX).

Nicely evolved.

Updated A4 was out before the E92/E93, as was the A8, which started the horizontal Audi taillamp trend. It then spread to the Q7, A6 Avant, A4, A5, R8 and A3 Sportback. They are not copying BMW, sorry.

Looks good in the photos.
The rear looks a lot like it was lifted from BMW.

Once again S4 - you're missing the reference. It could be explained if I could post pictures.

But it's not really that important.

Audi A5 also had LED lights...It's a little more expensive than the A4.

I noticed they went with dual exhaust stacked together this time, funny they've gone opposite of BMW now (at least w/the 335)!

Wow, I am very impressed with the new Audi. That 3.0 Liter V6 diesel sure is powerful and faster than the 3.2 Petrol V6.

The tailight design looks good. And the rear looks better than the e90 3 series sedan's rear.

Did they drop the 2.0T? The 1.8 at 160hp won't cut it.

I think they will still have a 2.0T in the U.S. It should be boosted to about 220+hp. The 1.8T is in Europe.

Funeral black isn't the best color at showing off German interiors. The C-Class and 3 Series looked equally uninspired with black interiors- it's a shame, then, that they don't look good with any other colored interior, either. The A4 interior will be different.

This is the thing which i hate in Audi, they all look similar. Even the new models resembles the old models a lot (example old TT to new TT, Old A4 and current one) the differences are very subtle.

Anyway it's nice, a safe and understated design/look. I was expecting a lot more exiting curves and lines.
This looks simply plain and boring.

I am totally honest here.No hating or bashing.Nothing.
Simply stating what i felt.

Well, looks at BMW design over the past decade. The only similar feature being the kidney grill. Too much of a drastic change. I like the design direction that BMW took with the CS Concept, though.

I like the new A4. Looks good. The interior could use more contrasting colors, but it looks clean. Where's the e-brake?

the a4 looks almost identical to the photoshop produced last year except for minor changes in the door handle, hood and grille.

looks good but not nicer than the a5. i was kinda hoping the a4 would have more curves like the a5. still a great car. love the interior. friend just got an rs4 and the race seats are awesome.

this is old news btw. :D

Audi design has typically been more about subtle evolution rather than radical revolution (a la BMW/Mercedes).

i used to prefer bmw for that very reason of it being subtle approach in design. bmw had a timeless but plain shape but perfect for its minimalist performance approach. the current generation of bmw under bangle took a very extreme approach and now audi maintains that very basic, subtle design approach which makes its car nothing eyecatching but a timeless beauty.

audi now provides the luxury and suppleness of a mercedes while offering the performance and a manual like a bmw while also having the simple elegant design typically found in a porsche as shown from the tt.

3 great companies but i am beginning to prefer audi's current approach and offering when i once prefered bmw's. the middle ground is good.

I have a feeling that this is yet another culprit of terrible Audi press shots. If you look at it closely, you can tell that this car will look very EXPENSIVE. It seems to have more substance than the new C-Class, which is beginning to look like a cheaply manufactured toy.

The interior? I can't tell. Obviously it will be of the highest quality, but black leather, aluminum trim and terrible computer-generated photography aren't a good combination. Judging from the placement/amount of trim and the style, it will look amazing in beige with wood or aluminum. Even black or gray with carbon fiber.

Back to the exterior... I will withhold my absolute judgment, but like other new Audi models, it will probably look stunning on the road. Those LED lamp designs are sweet!

Whoever was expecting a four-door A5 was confused. The A4/A5 are like the E90/E92 in that they have different designs. A5 should be sexier to demand a higher price.

Anyway, I've noticed this trend in small sedans lately: evolution. The 3 Series sedan, when it came out, didn't blow the press away with its style. But it wasn't very good either... the C-Class has had the same fate. On the other hand, though the new A4 won't dazzle the press, it will look like a sedan that's worth twice as much in dark blue with the proper dressings.

honestly, do you work at a dealership? Every single Audi post you have to be part of tooting the corporate horn with these ridiculously biased remarks, as if no company even comes close. Yeah, this car will look like an $80k car, just disregard the plastic everywhere. Oh wait, "high quality plastic".

@S4cab:
MB C-class = cheaply manufactured toy? That was pretty harsh. Not a big fan of the new C interior, but it still has a great fit & finish.

I had my mind set on a new BMW 3 series, but this has me thinking twice. The B8 Audi A4 should look even better in person. Nicely done evolutionary design both inside and out.

And silver looks way better than the red on the A4.

Fugly this makes all three German cars in there segmant look alike. 3 series, C and A4 they must be secretly working together. Grill and headlights are sexy but overall front end looks like a Passat on steriods. This surely could not be from the makers of the best interiors in the buisness give me a break, someone please post the 4 year old Acura TL interior next to this crap.

I was hoping for more of a departure from the previous generation A4 design....I think this will haunt Audi in near future when it will appear outdated. This design will have a life of six to eight years...yikes.

I know fans will challenge the back looking like a Civic and will mention the fact of concept. Concept don't mean jack it's who makes it to production first. I am stating that by them making the back square it looks like a civic, which isn't a bad thing. The car also screams Passat.

I hope the 2.0T and 3.2 have split exaust on each side like the current car. That is one of the turn offs of the 328i and G35 sedan. Two exaust pipes on one looks so weak.

Boring. With the stunning R8 and gorgeous S5, I expected Audi to inject some serious pizazz to their most important model. They didnt. At all. Exterior: Seen it all before....Interior: Good, but nothing groundbreaking.....Engine: Dont even tell me theyre dropping the 3.2 in there. Underpowered is an understatement

In my opinion, the 335i is still light years ahead.

How is the 3.2 underpowered? It has the same amount of horsies as the current 330i and a little less then the C350.

Maybe they'll soon drop the 3.6 in there with 300+hp.

well well, I really like Audis, I own 2, I sell them, but in a way this is very disapointing. I was expecting something more aggressive, but I guess the conservative approach won over at Ingolstadt...
It makes sense in 3 ways:
1st, the A4 is the big seller for the brand and the B7 is still selling well but the B6 had more "road presence", so this car looks more like an evolution of the B6.
2nd, while the other carmakers are going all out with aggressive designs, smoke and mirrors, plastic splitters and fenders, Audi still wants to appeal to those consumers that are traditionists and conservative. And still want a luxuxry german car.
3rd; the real revolution is under the skin, read the specs on that car and you'll see that beauty is deeper that shin deep. New transmissions, new platform, new technologies, safety, driving comfort, driving pleasure, driving dynamics, and it goes on and on, they did not leave one rock unturn.

So, like I was saying for the new Jag., it looks disapointing and boring but let's wait to see one in the street and sit in one and then we will be able to comment.
