Audi Preps The High Performance TT-R for 2008
A potent high-performance version of the TT Coupe and Roadster is not very far away, however, specific details of the future model are still hard to come by. There’s been much debate about the power source for the new super-coupe with most suggesting either a twin-turbo version of the current 3.2L V6 engine or a brand new five-cylinder turbo unit.

According to info leaked from a reputable source at Audi, the new car will actually be powered by a 2.3L VR5 engine with a turbocharger. Final output will be 308hp (230kW), and the car won’t be called the TT-RS but simply TT-R. The engine will feature all the latest in Audi technology include new direct-injection as well as a fast-spooling turbo.

It's nice to see Audi trying their hand at a high performance TT. The TT's of old have always been known for design over performance. They have always been a bit soft and slow compared to the other sporty coupes Z4/Boxster/etc that are in a similar price range.

Audi has been doing very well lately with their new crop of S and RS vehicles (RS4/S5/S6) and if they can transfer the same success to the TT it would be a very welcome addition.

It will be called the TT-S, not the TT-R. But there will also be a TT-RS a year or so later.

It is sure to give the Cayman S a run for its money... the new TT coupe looks hot.

Well, I had almost the same opinion about the old one, but the new TT is great. Just give it a try, sit in it and drive it for 5 minutes.

just cram that 420 HP RS4 engine into the TT and get it over with, no need for turbos :)

Abt TT-R Abt Sportsline celebrated the most amazing motor sport victories in the season 2002. The new Audi TT is a model which already combines clarity and form with modern technology in the serial car and therefore offers maximum driving pleasure, audi headlights with some features added.

big MEH. honestly, if you want a fast FWD car, look to honda. if you want a fast AWD car, look to mitsubishi or subaru. if you want a luxury sports coupe, im guessing bmw has something. luxury sports coupe that looks nice? well...there is no substitute, porsche.

honestly, the TT is a compromise. ive made mistakes in choosing cars believing that there can be substitutes that multi-task. but in the end its not as satisfying and usually isnt cheap. just go for the full beans people, dont be blinded.
