BMW 335xi sedan on sale in March
BMW's twin-turbo, 3.0-liter inline-six is turning out to be as exciting an engine as the automaker's lauded 5.0-liter V10. Though its horsepower rating is down a couple hundie compared to the V10, the experience of dropping the hammer on a perfectly balanced inline-six that's sucking in more air than a Dyson upright is awesome (or so we've heard). The engine debuted in the 3-Series Coupe, followed by an appearance in the 3-Series Sedan, and finally we've learned when it will be taking up residence in the all-wheel drive 3-Series Sedan. The vehicle, known as the 335xi, will be available in March of 2007 according to this page on BMW's Military sales website. With 300 horsepower, all-wheel drive and BMW handling, the 335xi promises to be everything to everyone.

I disagree with you. Quattro is king.
But I agree with the best handling sports sedan.

Interesting enough Audi has the AWD heritage. But BMW was just recognized has the most successful AWD manufacturer. I'm not sure what to make of that data. None the less both car's are great winter cars.

My S4 gets about 16 or 17mpg on a daily basis, but I drive pretty hard to work. It's also a Cabriolet- so it weighs more. However, I have no problem with it.

The S4 sedan, in mixed driving, would get something closer to 20mpg.

this car is less expensive than the current S4 and would be quicker, better handling, and even get better gas mileage. Uh oh. The 335xi Coupe will be out in 4th quarter of 2007, as well. That'll be my next car.

oh i am going to act like a BMW fan

but you are compairing the OLD audi to the NEW bmw

:)
S4 is in it's last year and very limited production for 2008 before the new car design in 2008 to 2008.5

do you believe the 2008's are only 4 months or so away?

you may be right, but the new S4 will be more expensive than the current S4, which is already more expensive than the 335xi will be. Besides, it also can't be much faster because Audi can't let it encroach on the power and speed of the RS4. Independent magazines have taken the 335i 0-60 in 4.8 seconds and dynoed it at 350hp and 360 lb-ft (all of which better the existing S4). Audi might be able to slightly one up those numbers, but they have to be mindful of not stepping on the $66k+ 420hp RS4's toes.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

#1: Price, true. The S4 will be more expensive. But it will still be under $50K.

#2: When the NEW B8 S4 comes out in a year or two, the OLD B7 RS4 will be discontinued (sadly enough). They are on different platforms. The new RS4 (B8) will be much faster than the B8 S4, I assure you.

#3: BMW doesn't quote it at 350hp. People have been talking about this all over the site. However, I can see Audi dropping the RS4's 420hp V8 into the new S4. It would make a lot of sense, especially with the new modular platform.

#4: Again, the RS4 will not be in production any more.

I'd like a 335xi wagon to replace my 2001 S4 wagon next year in the US. I've grown to love the twin turbo 6 with AWD. Too much to ask? I hope not.

Oh and yes, it's due to X3/X5 sales. Obviously, Audi has sold more AWD cars than BMW has. I'm sure they've sold more AWD A4s than BMW has sold all of its AWD cars combined. But I am not saying Audis are better, by any means.

"Actually they haven't... as far as i remember over the last years BMW have sold more AWD cars (due to the X3 and X5) than Audi has!"

MDalle, PLEASE read my post. I said that Audi has sold more RWD CARS-- I discouted the X3 and X5 because Audi hasn't had an SUV.

Obviously, overall, Audi has sold more AWD cars in its time than BMW.

I drove the 530xi after driving the Jaguar XJ8 for my wife. I wasn't impressed. Cheap interior, not as fast as an E350, and just not a very exciting car at all. The A8 is the perfect car for her.

Please BMW, make the 335XI awd in a convertible. You will put the Audi A4 out of business. I want one...
