BMW Hydrogen 7-series just a P.R. stunt?

Told you that it is quite pointless. There is no need to burn hydrogen.

It shows how far BMW have come with this technologi, remember BMW is a very small company, that produces only 1.000.000 cars a year, not like Ford, GM, VW and so on. You can go one third on hydrogen, compared to real gas, not much but a step in the rigth way. At least some try to make it a better world to live in.
BY THE WAY, AMERICANS SHOULD THINK TO BUY SMALLER ENGINED CARS THAT WOULD HELP THE WORLD TO.

this car has an ordinary internal combustion engine that can run on hydrogen.

good technology, but i believe the reason it only can go about 200 miles is because the tank is 2 gallons. compared with 13-21 gallon regular gas tanks on cars. Maybe they could make a bigger tank?

Yes i do think its a PR stunt because really having a big hydrogen tank in your car is just as bad as having suicide bombers. People everywhere dont know how to drive and the last thing i want them to have is a big ass bomb to drive around in.

But isn't this just business as usual for the makers of the "Ultimate Hype Machine"? Kudos thoush, any working hydrogen is a step in the right direction, but atleast Toyota gives a realistic timetable and price for it.

The U.S. paired up with Canada IS the most powerful nation on Earth. Unlimited oil, metals, lumber, fishstocks, farming land, fresh water etc. Add Japan and the U.K. and story over. Unlike China/Russia, the U.S. still has "real" allies. Those two clowns also can't project their power anywhere beyond their front lawn. Their only option is the nuclear one, which is suicide for them.
They (China) do fear the U.S., or else they'd push their weight around more, but instead, they have to get Osama and N.Korea to do their dirty work for them.

So we've had a week of BMW saving the world with its hydrogen car, and now the details that some of had speculated on start to leak out. I've posted several times about this slow, oversized, underpowered car that is going to spend all of its time running on it its weak gasoline engine. Now we hear there will be what, just 100 of the vehicles, leased only to a select few people? Honda and Toyota have been leasing hydrogen vehicles to the public and private sector in California for years, using actual fuel cells, unlike this PR stunt posing as a real breakthrough. BMW, shame on you, for perpetrating this media hype. I'm glad some of us saw through it from the beginning.

You've obviously fallen for the "China, we friend" charade. They're arming themselves for an eventual war with whom? Maybe invasion FROM Taiwan is imminent.

All those resources are unlimited when only 320 million ppl use it. We have areas we havne't even touched yet. Why do you think China tried so hard to drive a wedge between Canada and the U.S.? Thank heavens we have a sane conservative gov't now, none of this "anyone but America" liberal BS.

Japan has money, and a significant armed forces (4th highest budget in the world, all hi-tech weapons). Anyone who wants to touch us has to go through Japan, the U.S. Navy, Hawaii/Alaska, then the U.S. airforce and submarine fleet. Good luck. Same goes on the U.K. side. The benefits are reciprocated, as anyone who touches either country will have Uncle Sam on their ass.

By the way, who has the most to gain by the U.S. slowing down technologically? The so-called self-proclaimed next superpower? (superpower status not applicable if we're talking Kyoto accord. whatever). CNN even had a special on how China is selling weapons technology to everyone who's on America's hitlist (from terror groups to gov'ts).

Who knows, maybe the Germans and French are itching to sell some hydrogen powered tanks to China?

N.Korea is just China's stooge. You don't think the country that props them up has no leverage with them.

Hence, if they attack Americans on Japanese soil, they'll be dragging Japan (which has a defense pact with the U.S. anyway) into the fight. And there you see the benefits of true allies as opposed to friends of convenience (S.Korea).

If you were going to attack the U.S., are you going to leave an entire army and navy behind you while you sail across the Pacific?

Doesn't matter, no conventional attack would even make it to Hawaii. So the only options are the nuclear, or the sneaky cowardly one.

Yeah, difference is Japan, U.S. and U.K. share technology to protect one another. The French and Germans appear to be willing to sell theirs to anyone. Russia is doing it because they're poor.

Japan & U.S. paying for NMD (50% success is better than 0%).
U.S. and U.K the JSF (U.K. getting special privileges and transfers).
