Breaking tonight from the UK is news about Porsche's future product plans that has not been heard anywhere else previously. According to an article running across the pond, the Porsche 911 has essentially reached its full potential and the company has started work on something else much more intriguing.

That would be a mid-engined, V8 supercar that will go up against the likes of the Ferrari 458 Italia.

To say this is HUGE news would be a tremendous understatement. That's because the current iteration of the 911 Turbo and Turbo S are tremendous competition in the supercar class as they stand.

But it seems from what we're reading tonight that Porsche has really reached its limit and is seeking an all-new chassis to compete at the highest level. Considering what we've experienced behind the wheel of the latest Cayman, we're over the moon to hear about a potential mid-engined V8 with 600 horsepower.
