These days every one living where it snows seems to be under the impression that in order to get around in the white stuff, you can only do so with an all-wheel drive equipped vehicle. I blame Audi and Subaru for this.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather have incapable drivers behind the wheel of AWD vehicles to help handicap their ability but, for me, it’s not necessary. I am sure a lot of snow-tested drivers feel the same way.

Having said that, it’s clear that these models are here to stay. Just about every luxury automaker I can think of now offers AWD variants. But, WHICH is better? Although some have their theories, what better way to test this out than by a completely unscientific method?

That’s where tug of war comes into the picture.

Check out this Audi A3 Quattro square up with a BMW 3-Series xDrive in a friendly game of tug of war to see who gets the most traction in snow.
