Since the launch of the Porsche Cayman GT4, it's continued making buyers, critics and everyone in between question whether the 911 range is worth the extra cost. Well, this may help solve that a bit more.

The most extreme all-new 911 on the market right now is the rather bananas GT3 RS. Though I haven't driven it, the word on the street is that it's really a race car that got OK'd for street use. Usually when people say that it's an exaggeration. That's not the case here.

The Cayman GT4, on the other hand, is built for track duty but I am confident most buyers will keep them on the streets. With 385 horsepower it's not quite as buff as the 911 but we're sure it'll make up for that with its dynamic handling characteristics.

But rather than get philosophical, let's just get down to brass tacks: Who lapped Silverstone faster?
