When we finally got our first look at the newly updated 2014 Lexus IS at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, I think it's safe to say it was a pretty polarizing reaction. Some Spies loved it, others hated it and to be honest both sides had a valid argument to make. But when we recently snapped the FIRST on-road shots of the 2014 IS in a dark gray, I have to say it started turning me around. I didn't simply hate its exterior design anymore. Am I eating crow? Not yet.Now at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show we're seeing the 2014 IS in another new colorway. This time, folks, it's draped in your typical Lexus black. That said, I am a bit curious: Does the new IS in BLACK meet YOUR approval?Stay tuned to AutoSpies.com for the BEST auto show photos coming to you straight from Chicago!Chicago Auto Show Photo Gallery **Special thanks to Nissan for providing accommodations and transportation for the 2013 Chicago Auto Show

Just once I would like to see one in non-F Sport build since you know 95% of them on the road will be this way.— jeffgall (View Profile)

Black certainly is a better color for it as it hides the loopty loops of the "design". At the same time, what it gives us is essentially the same exact design, the grille excepted, as we've seen for the past 7 years. And no exterior color can save that disappointing interior. — cidflekken (View Profile)

black 'better' because it hides more of the design flaw...bizarre upward line of side skirts, fat and saggy rear end, etc. but nothing can hide the ENORMOUS hoover grill that looks like it's going to suck in the planet.of course, almost all will be IS250s without the excess body work and with the all-new 2006 204hp V6. — enthusiastx11 (View Profile)

Better in black.I don't understand that hate on the interior - design is good, you know the materials and fit and finish will be good - perhaps pictures don't do it justice? — M35MT (View Profile)

...I think Lexus really has something up it's sleevs with that spindle/hour glass grill. They have to know something we dont know because there aint nothing guite like that Spindle. Love it or hate it, yet it will grow on you no matter what u think. It's got that stop and stare thing going on. Definately that wow factor!— lexworld (View Profile)
