Chrysler Group LLC has reinstated Alex Wassell, the Warren Stamping Plant worker who was fired because of comments he made to The Detroit News.

“I’m happy to be back on the job,” Wassell said. “I want to thank all the people that supported me in my effort to return to work.”

Chrysler fired Wassell in March after he helped lead a demonstration against a controversial new rotating shift schedule at the company’s stamping plant in Warren on Feb. 28. At the time, Chrysler denied that the move was in retaliation for organizing protest, saying it was in response to comments Wassell made about the impact the dispute was having inside the factory.
