Chrysler is recalling 349,442 older vehicles because of problems with their ignition switch.

The recall affects some 2008 Dodge Chargers, Dodge Magnum wagons, Chrysler 300s, Jeep Commanders and Jeep Grand Cherokees.

The ignition switch in those vehicles can slip out of the "run" position causing the windshield wipers and defroster to deactivate. The ignition also can slip to the "off" position, causing a loss of power to the engine.

While the problem is similar to the defect that led General Motors to recall 2.6 million small cars from 2003 through 2007 model years, Chrysler said it only knows of one accident linked to the ignitions.
