General Motors’ top lawyer and the CEO of the supplier that made the faulty ignition switch will absorb some of the political fire previously directed at CEO Mary Barra when a Senate subcommittee reopens hearings Thursday on the automaker’s delayed recall.

It will be Barra’s fourth appearance on Capitol Hill since GM recalled 2.6 million small cars equipped with defective ignition switches.
