Back when we first saw the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Cabriolet at the 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) I think it's safe to say that our hearts skipped a beat. Painted a glorious matte white and outfitted with one screamin' interior, it required attention.

It wasn't asking for your eyeballs. It demanded them.

Aside from its gorgeous looks though, we know that there's one thing not to fool around with. That would be an AMG vehicle equipped with the lovely bi-turbo V8 found in the GT S. But, of course, with a super capable sedan and coupe on offer, why would one choose the likely to be softer and heavier convertible?

One word, really: fun.

If you live in the right climate there's nothing quite like putting down the top and hearing a V8 symphony of evil — make sure you get the Sport Exhaust option. But to better paint the picture of the all-new C63 S Cabriolet, we're going to let Autocar do the explaining.

I've pulled out the most important part of its review; however, if you need more information click "Read Article," below and they'll indulge you with some colorful writing and details concerning the all-new AMG.

Should I buy one?

Having already laid my cards on the table and said it’s one of the most enjoyable things I’ve driven all year, clearly I think you should. I’ve no idea if it’s the quickest drop-top point-to-point or how fast it'll lap the Nürburgring because I didn’t care to ask. Why? Because it doesn't matter a jot.

This is one of those rare cars that's fizzing with character, and it’s this, not a lap time, that'll make you beam like the Italian sun. And the best bit is that it’ll do that whatever speed you are doing, and wherever you are doing it.
