Last Sunday we brought you a story that, at the time, not many people were aware of. It featured a factory worker living in Detroit, James Robertson, and his brutal commute to and from his job.

It was a 23-mile round-trip commute. The average worker takes a similar journey every day but there's a significant difference between Robertson and your average apple.

Robertson, most of the time, hikes 21 miles to his employer. Experiencing hard times, much like greater Detroit, he couldn't afford to pick up new wheels when his 1988 Honda quit on him about 10 years ago.

This didn't deter him from working, however. He has a sterling attendance record and is completely loyal to his employer.

After a truly staggering sum of money was raised via GoFundMe from plenty of compassionate donors, it turns out a dealer has pitched in and provided Robertson with the keys to a 2015 Ford Taurus, which is loaded up according to reports.


After years of huffin' and puffin', logging 21 miles by foot to get to and from work, Detroiter James Robertson can breathe a sigh of relief.

He's getting a car: a shiny red, 2015 Ford Taurus. And it's loaded.

New wheels aside, he's also getting a new nickname tonight.

Robertson is ABC's "Person of the Week." The 56-year-old factory worker will be featured on "World News Tonight," along with a college student who has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars on his behalf, and the man who discovered his story...
