Immediately following his trip to Lake Tahoe, this week Agent 001 was on another plane to visit Dearborn, Mich. You know what that means. He was there to see the BIG guns at Ford. Typically at this time of year, the automakers invite media to events that serve as Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) preview gatherings.

Sometimes they're used to party. Sometimes they're used to inform. And other times, well, they can be considered nearly useless.

Ford Sync 3 And F-150 Factory

This particular meeting was different though. That's because it featured one of the critical initiatives for the Blue Oval. Leading up was the debut of Sync 3, which is the follow up to the current iteration of Sync, which is not completely free from faults.

Below are some of the key takeaways from today's presentation:

- It will debut in 2015, but the first model to receive the new technology has not been named;
- If you're holding out for the all-new F-150 and all-new Mustang to have this before you get one, guess what? You're out of luck. It's a hardware issue, which means the current-gen products with Sync will NEVER be able to upgrade their system;
- No CURRENT generation vehicles will enjoy the Sync 3 transition;
- There is good news, though. Once a vehicle has Sync 3 in it, there will NOT be any reason to have to do software updates — the car will handle it on its own via wireless connectivity

Now, just us looking at the all-new graphical user interface (GUI) we're a bit let down if we're honest. The all-new uConnect system found in Chrysler Group products, to us, is a much better looking and functional system as opposed to this largely evolutionary looking software.

Feast your eyes, below, and let us know what YOU think of Ford's all-new Sync system!
