Not bad. But I'll wait until I see a clear pic of the C-Pillar. That pic doesn't really show it. The C-pillar also looks Photoshoped in that pic.— LexSucks (View Profile)

With a more upright grill than the XF, the XJ looks more formal. I've seen images of the rear and it doesn't strike me as one of the best angles. Can't wait to see the interior. I believe Jag is on its way back to being a leading premium coachbuilder. — inspirion7 (View Profile)

That was just the problem; many people yearned for them, but nobody bought them. Old style for old farts. It is/was a classic look, but it's time for this change. — lock (View Profile)

The head lights are close, the hood and grill are similar - the rest of the car is completely different. They have to keep a hint of similarities between their lineup. BTW, I saw the rear end, and I'm not a big fan. I hope it looks better in person.— lock (View Profile)

Look at their entire lineup. This car mesh's so well with the Xk and Xf. I think this is a perfect fit. The rear end and C pillars will be something to question, we will have to see what tomorrow holds. — Timzilla (View Profile)

The side/profile is very handsome and (somewhat, though Audi-esque) distinctive for the class… The front ¾ view is also well realized, maintaining the already striking design language established by the XF… The rear ¾ view is rather spoiled by the peculiar decision to black-out a portion of the c-pillar… The rear design simply doesn’t work for me, and is somewhat incongruent with the rest of the vehicle, especially those taillamps that look better suited for some hot-hatch as opposed to a high-end luxury saloon. - We’ll see how it fares in the marketplace soon enough… — DaHarder (View Profile)

very nice. It's about time jaguar evolved a little. The old designs were getting boring, hence the sales. I see a little Aston Martin in this. Almost like a low budget rapide.— Runamukk (View Profile)

So far, from what I see, I'm a bit disappointed. It is, admittedly, too early to really judge from just a few pictures, but hey, that's what 1000 threads on the same topic are for!I loved the old Jags, but I definitely think it was time for a change and I'm all for a thoroughly modern look. No question about that. But somehow, as with the XF, it just doesn't do it for me, just doesn't make me lust for it, like a Maserati GT Coupe. And that's what a Jag should do. This, and the XF and the XK, are all goodlooking, modern, etc, but somehow, they've missed the mark on making them truly beautiful, and even more disappointing, there are just too many design elements that are similar to other cars (and let's leave out the discussion about who did what first). Just too much Audi in the profile here, and jury is still out on the back. I'm glad they stuck with a vertically-oriented taillight, but I think the plate belongs on the trunk lid, not in the bumper. Not that I'm in the market for a car like this, but none of this would preclude me from buying one if I thought it was the right car. But it just wouldn't be the primary choice because it's so freakin beautiful, because IMO, it's just isn't. And that's what Jags should do, and really, that's what they NEED to do, in order to really compete and be successful against the stronger brands.— Hachee2001 (View Profile)

This car is stunning. Everyone is complaining about the d pillar being blacked out but it is not. That is wrap-around glass I believe. The car is elegant and well proportioned. Exceedingly british looking and far more unique than anything in its class. Well done Ian and the jag team! I have been waiting for years for this to be revealed and I can honestly say it has surpassed my expectation. Those rear lights are stunning. At certain angles they look like the old xj lights. I also definitely see remnants of the old xjs here. — AShul007 (View Profile)

Ill reserve complete judgement until I see it in person but in pictures it looks like to many things. From that angle it looks alot like the Mercury Mariner without the horizontal slat grill the overall form roof line, and everything is way to similar, and edmunds.com showed a picture of the rear, in which the tail lights looked like they were pulled straight from a Lancia. I can understand needing to be different from the old XJ, but the old one wasnt ugly, it was a good looking car just old. I think they could have done alot better job— bmwdrvr (View Profile)

I must admit that the angle of that rear shot makes it look rather odd. However, the rear appears just fine in the side shot (which makes the car appear rather attractive), also CAR has another picture where the rear is not quite as bad, but looks even more like the Bentley Continental posterior:http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/News/Search-Results/First-Official-Pictures/Jaguar-XJ-unveiling-live-video-and-pics/I will bet that it looks better in darker colors.— cdoke (View Profile)
