First look: 2009 E-class

The team at Autobild has taken a shot of what the 2009 E-class will look like.

Looks like a combo of the CLS and a better looking Audi A6 rear...

While NOT the actual new E, this rendering does look very good, and I bet fairly close to the mark.

PorscheGuy, if I recall, Mercedes had the twin lights first. The GS was intoduced later.

I'm sorry, but does anyone else see the blatant thievery Mercedes has partaken in to get the design of this new E-Class?

I mean, come on, the front headlights are EXACTLY like the current GS430, and the back -- if not a ripoff of the GS430 again -- is exactly like the new Audi A6's back.

Granted, it is a good looking car...just not very creative...

Well, everybody seems to say that Lexus copies MB but now look whos copying. MB cant make their own designs and thats why they are copying Lexus. Japanese are always the best and soon you will see MB copying Hybrid from Lexus beause they are not innovative at all.
Everybody doesnt seem to understand that Japanese are the best and those that think the Europeans are best, well they are in the Dark.

Are you for real?

Claiming Mercedes is not innovative because of an event that is yet to happen?

"soon you will see MB copying Hybrid from Lexus because they are not innovative at all."

FOR THE LAST TIME, this was designed by a photoshop artist. I don't want you to say "Mercedes is copying Lexus", I want you to rephrase that to "A photoshop artist is copying Lexus".

Do I make myself clear Lexus Forever, ToyotaRacer....etc.?

What's with all the catfighting around here? Aren't most of the people here car "guys", not a bunch of catty girls?

Anyway. This car doesn't look bad, even though it may not be the actual finished product. IMO, I think it's a pretty good rendition of the direction that MB would take with the new E Class, considering their current design themes... more squarish headlights...droopy butt.. more aggressive stance. That rear-end, at least the taillights, need to go.

And as far as who's copying whom..well, there are many automakers who've had the double-headlights look many, many, years before Lexus ever decided to be a car company, including MB. For the direct comparison with the GS, MB had twin lights on the 1989 (?) E-Class before the GS did. As a matter of fact, that E-Class was copying MB's own previous iteration of the E-Class, formerly the 300-series cars (with the large headlight, the smaller whitish/yellowish fog light.

No one said a word about anything but the styling. Are you all daft? Beauty is only skin deep. MBZ is, and always has been, and probably always will be, the best engineered production car on the planet. I'll take a Benz at 180kph (or, frankly, any other speed) any day of the week! Lexus? Give me a break. Nothing but Jap toys.
