Ford will celebrate in 2016 the 50th anniversary of its first of four consecutive victories from the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. In order to properly celebrate the anniversary it appears that Ford is preparing the biggest surprise for its fans and will bring back the GT for 2016. According to company insiders, Ford already started working on a mid-engined supercar that will take on other high-performance models.

What’s more interesting is that Ford is also preparing to return to Le Mans and take to the top of the podium. The old Ford GT used a 5.8-liter V8 engine but raking in consideration that the manufacturer started supplying engines to Daytona Prototype cars in the Tudor racing series, we might see that engine on the upcoming supercar.
