Honda has started unveiling the redesigned 2013 Accord sedan and coupe, the company’s duo of mid-size moneymakers, by releasing two photos of each and a skosh of info.

I'm pleased with the looks. I think the Accord covers a lot of bases for the enthusiastic driver. When you're trying to be as many things possible to as many as possible this is the result and, for me, it works. I am curious about what the new mechanicals will bring to the table. I don't think its reasonable to expect it to excel in every aspect. But, as an Accord it will just be very, very good in most. That has been the secret to its success, and that will probably continue.

It looks good. Honda did a great job in cleaning up the previous design. This looks good, really classy. It's not trying too hard to be "styled", ala Maxima, Altima, Sonata. Yes, it's a bit more like the Genesis from the rear but it still has its own distinct styling.

It looks like the offspring of a BMW and Lexus ES. A bigger 3-series with Lexus lights.

I like it. Classier than the Altima, Sonata. Nicer looking than the bloated Camry.

Its not about BMW owners, its the car buying public that is ignorant. I bet if they surveyed other RWD cars they would come to the same conclusion. American shoppers buy for looks, and Chrome trim is easily mistaken as luxury, why do you think so many American car companies trim everything on the inside and outside with chrome to try and distract them from seeing how cheaply made the plastics are. Chrome is a false sense of luxury that Americans are so easily fooled by. And just because a car makers customers don't know whether it is fr0ont or rear wheel drive has nothing to do with the quality of the car. almost nobody I know even knows Land Rovers are AWD and better offroad than any stock SUV, and nobody I know yet knows BMW's are RWD. Every time they find out my e30 325 is RWD they can't believe it. They are wowed, especially when I tell them BMW doesn't make a FWD car.

No idiot I'm not, but i DO find the term 'ricer' a racial slur...

What do you think made the Accord the number one selling retail family sedan for years? The looks?

I've been a fan of Honda products before the NSX was twinkle in Soichiro's eye...it's the race proven tech filtered down to humble sedans like the Accord that make them better than the rest.

A move to struts would be another sign of Honda giving up on its roots...I rather have double wishbones than LED bling or 'fart cans'.

An all-new suspension featured "double-wishbone" design at all four wheels. Derived from Formula 1 racecar chassis design, this setup allowed precise handling (by always keeping the tire perpendicular to the road surface) while still delivering a comfortable, slightly firm ride. As the family sedan battle between Toyota and Honda heated up, it seemed that those interested in sporty handling went for the Accord, while those who weren't looking for a poor man's BMW and who preferred a softer ride chose the Camry."

I think Accord buyers were buying Accords because they wanted to get the most practical, high tech, fun-to-drive car their money could buy. I'm not saying the new Accord will be crap, but the move to struts will raise a few eyebrows with the Honda faithful.

As for name calling...well, if your'e gonna use the word 'ricer', then being called an idiot in return is getting off easy.

Nice that the back end isn't as Hyundai as previously thought. Lines go in opposite directions and the trunk lines and creases are different.

Nice but nothing earth shattering. I see they adopted the Walmart LEDs.

...I suppose this may have been a good move on Honda's behalf. Dont expect young people to be buying this Accord this time around because the younger buyer may think the new Camry has youthful appeal than the more conservative and classic lines of this new Accord. I still think Honda is lost. They just dont have that Big Vision Toyota have. I guess there can only be one Number One. Trust me, Toyota is Number One and most likely will always be, and that includes the Toyota Camry remaining the top Dog!
