These are not the stories I like to write about here on AutoSpies but, unfortunately, I feel as though it serves as — more or less — a public service announcement (PSA) for all drivers. Sometimes we make bad decisions and these painful reminders keep us on track.

Unfortunately on Long Island an 18-year-old man, Samuel Shepard, was involved in a crash driving a 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo Spider and lost his life. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Now a lot of you may be asking how a teenager got behind the wheel of the Italian supercar. Well, according to reports a family friend allowed him to get behind the wheel of the V10-powered Lambo for a joy ride. Shepard was planning to ship out to the armed forces in the coming weeks.

It's a terrible end to what was intended to be a good cause, but sometimes you just have to think a bit wiser in circumstances like this.

Police say a teen died after crashing a Lamborghini in Mount Sinai early Friday morning.

Samuel Shepard, 18, was driving the 2010 sports car northbound on County Road 83 when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail near Route 25A at 2:25 a.m.

Shepard was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger and owner of the vehicle, Michael Power, 49, of Port Jefferson Station, was also taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening...
