Future Products — Nissan GT-R to be a 2008 Possibility
GT-R: Much to the chagrin of Infiniti dealers, the upcoming all-wheel-drive GT-R performance car will be badged as a Nissan. The next-generation GT-R is expected to go on sale in the United States as a 2008 model. The sticker price is expected to be about $60,000.
Infiniti dealers desperately wanted the GT-R as a halo for the brand.

I doubt that this car will be priced at 60K...I suspect 70+.....but if it is 60K, it would be a bargain.

Shiftright- I agree, for a car so heralded and so soon, there is so little about it in the press. The new GT-R always been more vaporware than substance,

I really, really hope it comes here. I'm guessing they will slot it up against the Corvette.

You know, I am not particularly a Corvette kind of a guy but boy am I glad they came up with their 400 and the big brother 500 hp cars because I have to agree with you, it must influence the pricing of cars that are sold in the same segment. So if the Twin Turbo V6 (3.5 or slightly enlarged 3.7li) Nissan GT-R with 400-450hp is indeed priced below 70k as some of you good people are suggesting, and with good reason, it would be a very attractive car indeed.
If the GT-R lives up to or very likely exceeds its past performance, there is no doubt that it will give much more expensive European cars a run for their money, much as the current Corvette has.

No, this is like a pumped up on steroids version of the 350z/G35 coupe.

hey avanti5010,Here's a clip from nissan's notes on the gtr.Nissan Announces North American Sales Channel for GT-R [April. 12, 06]
NEW YORK (April 12, 2006) – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. President and CEO Carlos Ghosn today announced that the next generation of Nissan’s renowned GT-R performance car will be available in North America and badged as a Nissan model, consistent with its global branding. The GT-R, which was previewed in concept form as the GT-R PROTO (shown above), has not previously been offered for sale in North America. The GT-R will debut in production form at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in Fall 2007, followed by the U.S. and Canada in Spring 2008. More details on the launch of the GT-R will be available at a later date.

And as far as pricing, the limited r34 skyline that went on sale last year went for 150,000.So 60-75,000 is a bargain for the most desired vehicle on the road.
