LOL, BMW coupe gives up after 4 laps. Not sure how BMW fanbois can dig themselves out of this one. Very nice engine in the Infiniti, but not sure about the looks. The Nissan Altima coupe looks way to similar.

Just read the article. Wow! They clearly favored it.

But I don't know if I love how it looks, either... I'll have to see it in person.

I DO know that I love the last-gen G coupe, though. Sexiest for under $40K, IMO.

"There's firmer damping and better body control than in the BMW 335i. More impressive is the steering, which offers a perfect compromise of surface feel, steering effort and feedback. This makes the G37 more intuitive and better behaved at the cornering limit than the BMW — and the car we drove hadn't even been fitted with the optional four-wheel steering."

And I love the front-end, it's very dramatic and has a sense of occasion. I'm not too sure about the boxed-up rear, it just doesn't seem to flow with the front and sides.

"Edmund's is hardly a credible source for judging handling and sportiness."

Wow. The Infiniti not only surpasses the BMW 335i in handling and feel but lives beyond the first four track laps....so much for BMW's "engineering".....very embarassing and a huge PR nightmare.

The G37 looks I like. But I also like the 328i/335i coupes as well. It's really a matter of Japanese or European styling. Performance wise I believe the 335i isn't exactly 300hp. I heard it's actually more than marketed. For all we know Edmunds could be biased towards this G37. It's not a fair test but the better choice to make a final judgement on this car is when it comes out and we hear it from the actual owners who will run this car to the test of time.

I love it though! It's a lot more smoother and sleaker than the out going one. I also like the 3 series coupes whether its the 328 or the 335. All are beautiful pieces of automotive art. In the end of the day I think any one of these cars being compared is a true winner.

I do agree that the G37 will give BMW a run for their money because it's cheaper than the 3series as well. I believe the G37 will be in the price range of a 328i which will be a little slower than the 3.7liter engine. Then again both cars are good respectively..

It's a tough decision but i would say it all comes down to which company gives me a better deal. Or which company gives me better service.

335i boiling @ only 4 laps, worse handling than G37.
335i looks dull in real life too.

G37 will be at least 5K less. The only problem with G37 is its 5sp auto, 1 gear less.

Can we not pass along what we think of styling as a fact?

The G37's numbers are amazing, but I'm very disappointed with how it looks (too Asian?) and I believe the E92 is BMW's most beautiful 3 Series to date.

Wow, thats a good looking car. Im just curious what the point of Autoshows are anymore. We now see every car before its officially released. It is kind of taking the fun out of it.

True. This one appears to be a case of one magazine releasing its online edition early. I agree that all of the leaks make the auto shows virtually useless.

Also the announcements of the car of year awards are also available online early - there's no suspense left in that area.

This is good. I like how it looks from the front, however the back doesn't really look that nice. But overall this must be a very good car.

GO BMW! ;)

I wish they made it be closer to the concep design. I'm not too crazy about this. It kind of looks like the new Altima coupe from the side, and front lights are just like the sedan. They didn't make them silcky like the concept design was. Why not?

I can't believe how dreadful and ugly that G37 interior is.

Certainly not befitting a sleek coupe.

I love how American publications jump to conclusions over incidents for the sake of 'interesting' journalism, stating at the end that if you buy the Infiniti you won't ever be stranded like if you purchased the BMW.

What a load of crock. Where is the journalistic integrity there?

One car has an issue, and it is basically written off as being the 'unreliable' one and so avoid it.

A reputable magazine would see this incident as a shame as the cars could not be properly compared, but Edmunds uses at as the basis for their conclusion on which car they favour.

Even if you aren't a BMW fan, you can appreciate this kind of sensationalised journalism for the sake of a few extra readers is sad and integrity is lost.

Matthew, you must be new here...as that's all autospies is...sensationalized journalism. if one company has a recall, they they are considered crap. if someone sees a car broken down, it's the same story. if a car gets one less star as a crash rating it's rubbish! welcome to the arrogant, 'i'm never wrong' mentality that IS autospies.com.

also, please excuse the excessive Lexus adverts.

You know, that same fundamental argument can be applied to most Lexus reviews from Car and Driver et al. But nooooo, all Lexus articles where they are needlessly sensationalized and exaggerated to the point where the line between professional journalism and a three-ring circus are 100% factual.

The BMW will be serviced and be a fine BMW. No matter what, though, the G37 is still a Nissan. In 10 years the Nissan will be gone to the junkpile, but the BMW will still be running with a happy owner.

Interesting. My 1981 280ZX still runs like the day it was new. Don't see many 25 year old BMWs on the road now do you. It is a fact that BMW's reliablity of the last 30 years is not as good as Nissan's, that said, the Infiniti brand is even better.

I am a BMW fan, so take this for what it's worth. I may not see a ton of 1982 Bimmers on the road, but I see at least as many as I see Nissans. In fact if you look at when BMW really hit massive sales in the US with the 87+ E30 3 series, you will see 10:1 of those versus '87 Nissans.

So are we collective in saying that this VQ engine is going to be the basis for the next-gen Skyline? Do I smell a VQ37HRTT or something new down the pike from them?

I smell a pile of BULSHIT!

"in the upper reaches of the powerband?"... why are they stating that the G37 has 30hp more when they went out of their way proving that 335i has somewhere bet 330-340 crank hp.

"the G will leave the 3 series in it's wake"...leave where? with that oudated 5-speed auto vs 6spd auto? with at least 50lb/tque less and more weight? I'm not even a big fan of turbo but will admit that turbo=monster on highway (even beats the E46 M3). Besides, haven't they even posted some numbers to prove this?

The only advantage I imagine it has is the LSD and the stiffer suspension that will be better for acceleration on tight turns.

Anyhow, after seeing the concept pics, I really was considering the G37. But this has fell into a disaster! Are they trying to save the concept design for a future facelift? If so I'll wait...lol

BTW, Edmunds quit making up stories before you loose my respect. "G having a more performance focused chasis" Unbelievable tales...lol

i agree with avanti5010, some people just cant handle defeat, and everyone keeps talking about how much the concept is differnt from this car, this is a test mule for one and second off the concept had a glass top, no prodution vehicle is goin to have that, concepts are called concepts for a reason, they are expensive to produce and are meant to give ideas not meant to produce exactly the same...i think the design is as identical to the concept as it could be
