An iphone is not an appropriate analogy since it is actually a computer which is always subject to rapid obsolescence. A car is in a different classification and represents a complex expression of design, engineering, style and build quality that must last reliably for years.

This comes across as a stupid topic for those readers who *must* have the "latest and greatest." There's nothing wrong with that, but not all people share that value. For example, if all one needs is an iPhone 3, and they can get one for free versus $150 the latest iPhone 4S (all other things being equal), why spend the extra money for something you don't need?

if the new model is really new, then definitely NOT the old one. if it's essentially the same, then i'd go for the deal on the old one because you can negotiate big time. the lexus ES for example...same engine,chassis,etc. same car with a new grille. get the old one for 20% less.

Two of my friends actually just bought the 2012 Vette in spite of the soon to be released new generation C7. Both claimed they believed the last of a cycle/series is absolutely the best.

- As a rule most people will claim that what they have currently is the best. This is a classic example. The replacement isn't even out, yet they are claiming that thier car is better. Its called false pride. And the new Vette will be better than the last generation. Your buddies are fooling themselves. Whatever makes them happy I guess.
