For about a year now we've been passing along spy photographs of an all-new Rolls-Royce. To some it appeared to be a Ghost convertible or as the company likes to call them "drophead." To others it was clearly a Wraith convertible.

In May the name was released: it would be called Dawn.

According to a writer at AutoBlog, shortly thereafter the company held an event at a Beverly Hills mansion where he got to see the full banana. Considering this has been done before on numerous occasions this isn't a huge surprise.

But, what he is able to speak about now may surprise you. According to the writer, Rolls-Royce wanted differentiate the all-new convertible from the Wraith and Ghost. It had to be a separate entity. And, the writer describes the all-new convertible as a luxury hot rod. When the electric top came off, it revealed a bold colored interior and a wood tourneau cover as seen on the Phantom Drophead. The difference is the cover is not teak but instead another wood and it tumbles from the deck into rear seat's center console.

Lastly, as with any Rolls-Royce, this all-new car will be as customizable as one can have it. This is one area that Rolls does not play around. If you want it, it can be done. Just bring a fat wallet.

Stay tuned for September. That's when the Dawn will appear for the very first time to the public at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA).
