Honda Rushes To Double CR-V Production
Honda Motor Co. may double North American production of its compact CR-V, the best-selling sport- utility vehicle in the U.S., as demand for large, truck-based SUVs fades, Bloomberg News reported today.

CR-V sales jumped 44 percent this year to 167,223 through September, eclipsing Ford Motor Co.'s Explorer, the U.S. leader in 14 of the past 15 years, at 108,535. Tokyo-based Honda wants 80 percent of the autos it sells in the U.S. to be made in North America, meaning a shift in CR-Vs, now mostly imported, Bloomberg said.

only things it lacks is power no v6 no 3rd row seating and and not even basic off road capabilities personally i think rav4 is best in class if you are going to buy the top model

well before, its 4wd is only good on semi-rough conditions, like driving nicely through up a hill of snow and etc. I'd go for a forester if I was that serious.

Honestly, who would buy any of these cars to go off-roading??? CR-V? RAV4? LOL. They'd just get a Wrangler.

The lack of a V6 should be addressed- or, at least the turbo four from the RDX should be added. But the third row is unnecessary because the Pilot has one. I've felt that the same is true of the RAV4's third row- now, every single SUV in Toyota's lineup is available with one. Doesn't make sense.

They'd best sell as many of these boring lil' monstrosities as they can before people start figuring out that the dealers are gassing prospective customers as they enter Honda dealerships so as to make these ugly buggers desirable - LOL!

Note: Just Kidding -- Well Not About The Looks... YIKES!

I don't mind the looks. It's obviously pointed towards women, and it's working.

sure buddy, but we got both the accord and 1st CRV. IDK why you would ever bring up the accord, but w/o the CRV, we'll have to suffer the need to carry more things while we're @ ikea. remember this is a compact SUV , and the reason why it sells is because its got better MPG, much more functional, saves money and easier to park and to take around NYC or DC. (does handling matter in this segment??)

1. No we won't let someone haul it. we got enough room to carry what we want. we always think logically of what we're gonna but in the car.

2. Eats gas more than a what? a tahoe?

3. a minivan? not a full size one. anything like the Mazda 5 or 1st gen odessey will be a yes. but vans are more to park. and most sedans have big blind spots.

4. how is the CRV not functional?

5. traveling in the CRV to Ocean city (180 or less mi)wasn't a big deal. I got reclining seats in the back. and foot room and entry isn't a big deal either.

What I cannot figure out is if bad drivers buy CRVs (and RAV4s and Camrys for that matter) or if simply driving one makes you a bad driver. This from countless hours being held up by drivers of these vehicles creeping along in the #1 lane, holding up traffic on the 405.
