Honestly, I never wanted to have to keep writing about the Cadillac ELR. I really don't want to have to keep rehashing how much of a failure this product has been but it seems that General Motors didn't give anyone much of a choice.

Sales are in the toilet. Inventory levels are up. BUT, the prices are coming down, down, DOWN.

Thanks to a story passed along to me from our very own Agent009, it turns out that Cadillac dealers are throwing $12,000 on the hood of the ELR. Of course, on top of that is the tax credit — thank you, Uncle Sam — which drops the price another $7,500.

There's just one problem: The ELR still costs over $56,000 at that point. Considering how much you can acquire a Chevrolet Volt, this isn't exactly a relative bargain.

Given the dire straits, how much FURTHER south do you think the ELR's price will go? Is this it? What happens next?
