Yes, I agree 9.3 seconds is kinda slow. But you got to remember, in Europe, for this car, the 2.0 Liter is kinda quick. The standard engine offered is a 1.6 Liter which is a hell of a lot slower than the 2.0 liter. The US doesn't even have this engine option (1.6l); and in most places in Europe, the 2.7 is non existent because of the extremely crazy option price, or it is not even offered as an option at all.

Hyundai objective is to provide a low cost cars in almost every segments. not all people can afford to buy japanese or german cars. As a personal opinion hyundai is the best car for whining burger flippers, who cant fill their tanks with the current gas rates
are they in a position to be worried about launch timming ? you should be more worried about fuel consumption because 9.3 will give you more MPG and thats what you should talk about

9.3 seconds isn't dreadfully slow, but for a supposed 'sports car', it should be a bit quicker. 8 or something.
I would be very happy with a 9 second to 60 car, my car does it in 11.5. But I don't complain, it doesn't struggle, and gets up to speed reasonably quickly.

If only Toyota still built cars that look like they did in the 90's. At least someone is offering good looking cars at affordable prices.

Killing off the Supra, Celica and MR2 sure made for a boring line-up in Europe
