Japan's Next Target is Hydrogen Power?
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) plans to spend ¥209 billion (US$1.72 billion) over five years, beginning in the current fiscal year, to support the development of next-generation powertrains and fuels to cut petroleum consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The plan, called “an initiative to develop next-generation automobiles and fuels”, focuses on five primary areas: batteries for hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles; hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles; clean diesel vehicles; biofuels, including second-generation biofuels; and infrastructure and intelligent traffic management. More than three-quarters of the proposed spending is directed toward hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, with batteries and clean diesel coming in for approximately equivalent shares for the remaining funds.

Lol Lexus lovers, hydrogen in a 7 series is stupid and pointless i recall the majority saying in a previous article? Well, looks as though it won't be long until a Lexus has a hydrogen fuel cell. Well, they have to continue their pursuit of perfection by copying the Germans, how else would they achieve it?

I'm reading blog on this site about who did this first or that first. Who cares! As long as every manufacturers are moving torward the future. It's ALL GOOD.

Beside I recall Honda came out with hydrogen fuel cell before BMW. Lets just be cars loving people and focus on the development of cars.

It doesn't matter who has 1 up from who. It's getting old... like my age.

that is correct honda was first to develop a fuel cell vechicle. The official mass production of the fcx will be here next year. Just like honda was first with hybrid in the insight all Lexus/Toyota those is copy Acura/Honda and make claims to doing it first.
ie
RL (First in the US with navi
RL (ALL WHeel drive well before lexus)
RL (REAL TIME TRAFFIC WELL BEFORE ANY OTHER BRAND)
TL (BLUE TOOTH TECHNOLOGY WELL BEFORE LEXUS KNEW WHAT IT WAS)
NSX (FIRST PRODUCTION VECHICLE WITH DRIVE BY WIRE)
The list goes on and on, whey Lexus had a few first but most of them were just copies of the germans, headlights that turn, back up camera etc. That is what makes Acura unique, what are you saying now LexusAdmirer?

The 7 is not a fuel cell, it is an internal combustion engine designed to run on either hydrogen or gasoline. The problem with a fuel cell is that it can only run on hydrogen and thus present a problem when the infrastructure for hydrogen delivery is in it early stages, that is why BMW thought the internal combustion system would be a way to ease the transition from fossil fuel to hydrogen.

The other thing to keep in mind is that hydrogen present two huge problems right now. First, extracting hydrogen is an expensive, energy intensive process that probably creates more pollution and CO2 than it saves when replacing fossil fuel. While I think the hydrogen 7 is a great idea, until we find a way to efficiently develop hydrogen, it will not be viable.

Second, tranpsorting hydrogen is difficult and transporting enough to make the range of a vehicle comparable to today's cars is even more difficult.

Overcome these two problems and hydrogen is the answer.

I like hydrogen a lot; however, realistically, sufficient hydrogen infrastructures are a long way off.

LEXUSADMIRIER you did not prove nothing to me by your stupid little research, okay so the Insight was first in the US pardon me for being ignorant to the rest of the world. Where your proof on the other stuff I said you don't have any. Fact of the matter is this Honda had the ballz to tackle the Germains first introducing Acura and in its fourth year of existance outsold all German luxury manufacturers look that up. Toyota might sell mor cars today, but that due to the fact that you have toyota's as taxi's and rentals, Honda on the other hand is private and don't get involved with that, #1 rated manufacture in intial quality test. What the language too, I'm just having fun. (ps. do you even own a Lexus?)
