Lexus LS460 and LS600hl Video test drive by motor trend (incase the other one didnt work, glitch)
This is a great find of the two vehicles. They give both cars very positive reviews. So enjoy them, they give unbiased views.
They also reveal the pricing of the hybrid to be $110,000 to $120,000 decked out, but they say its worth it.
so have fun Lexus fans and grieve on German fans
jkjk all in good fun right?

Somehow, that LS 600h L looks better than the LS 460 L. I think it's the headlights.

Isn't it great that I was de-boosted ridiculously by the Lexus fans, even though I think the LS600hL is a superb vehicle? It does what it's supposed to do quite well.

It's not just the headlights, the LS 600h has better looking wheels. Lexus should make the optional 5-spoke wheel the standard set for LS 460 and LS 460L. Should offer more wheel option across the entire lineup.
I am a big Lexus fan. I would get an LS (a dark blue 460 L with 600h wheels) over a 7 series, IS over 3 series any day. BUT, BMW aside from making better handling* cars than Lexus, BMW also makes/offers better ... best looking standard and optional wheels in the auto industry.
*not overall better cars, just better handling.

$120,000 for a "decked out" LS600hL? Lexus has finally reached the status that allows them to charge that much for their vehicles; they've earned the respect. Note that "prestige pricing" most likely is not included.

If you want performance, go for the 440hp 760Li.
If you want speed and luxury (perfect exec. sedan), go for the 430hp LS600hL.
So, in a word, yes.
And don't forget the A8L W12 and S600!

but somehow they can't make it quicker 0-60 than those cars. the guy in the video even said quite plainly that "it doesn't feel as quick off the line as it's v12 competitors.
and let's just see how many people are willing to pay that much for a lexus that blends in with the rest of the cars on the road.

I didn't notice driver monitor camera, neither the leather warped dash from the video. US version will leave out these features?
The guy said 0-60 in 5 seconds range. Will it be that slow? I would expect 4.6~4.8s. Did I hear it right? Also sounds like he mentioned comibined mpg only 21? Lexus said in its European press release combined mpg <9.5L/100km (25mpg).
Nonetheless, the car is gorgeous! I believe Lexus will release the full specifics in New York next month.

That can't be right, no way.
The normal LS460 has gotten 5.5-5.8 where I've seen.
It also has a better combined mpg cycle. LS460: 19/27 = 23.

ugly interior on the LS? Are you serious? Well I hope the next thing you say that the interior of the 7 series or the new S class is nice, or nicer than the LS. The 7 series interior had all the critics in the world, besides its exteriors, and yet MB copied the 7 series interior with the new S class.
The LS was and is and will always be known for beauty of interior design, and yet the new LS sits next to the MB S class in exterior design beauty, and as far as the 7 series, its truly ugly in and out.

"It looks too modern and too Japanese"
European aesthetic vs Japanese aesthetic. That's all it is, it's just a matter of what you're used to. Both are great design themes. European design tends to be more stylized and Japanese design tends to be cleaner, more "zen". To say that one is better than the other is ridiculous.

I guess will be updated to Li-ion battery in its mid-cycle update.

Very few people will pay 120K for a bloated non-descript Camry. Look at the A8W12, S600 or 760il, and even if you don't know what they are they have road presence. This LS Looks marginally better than road-kill.

The only place this car will sell is the US. Americans have been indoctrinated with lunatic ideals to believe that a TOYOTA designed boat with an eight cylinder hybrid is comparable to the best V12's. I call bullshit.
You can deboost me all you want, but one really does have to take into account the views of international consumers vs. American consumers. This will not be successful overseas.

AUDIMAN you don't know what you are talking about. The new LS will be a big success overseas, it is very popular and well known in many countries.
I currently work in Moscow, Russia and I see a LS460 about every 15 minutes of driving on the road. Not to mention the huge waiting list for LS600. They love this car in Russia and I'm sure in many different countries as well. It is definitely not for the US market only.

The numbers certainly do speak for themselves. Audi did well. And so did Lexus. Both MB and BMW were down year-to-year for the first two months. The real story is in the rate of growth. But you may not get an idea of that for another year. The big question however is what happened to Jaguar? Maybe Ford should have kept Aston Martin and sold Jaguar. Maybe Jaguar can use E85 in Europe! Thats what the Big Three are talking about doing in the states. No disrespect. Just a jest!
