Lexus LX 570 Coming to New York
"In a brief press release,Toyota confirmed that its Lexus brand would be unveiling a new LX570 sport-utility vehicle at the 2007 New York auto show.

The new model replaces the outgoing LX470, which shares its running gear with the Toyota Land Cruiser. The new LX is expected to share the new 5.7-liter V-8 engine Toyota installs in the Tundra pickup.

Spy shots of the Toyota Land Cruiser [Click Link] show a smoother body style, which the Lexus edition will likely adopt as well.

Other details are slim. Toyota says the third-generation LX ute will "reach new heights in performance via a powerful new V-8 engine while achieving elevated levels of comfort, style and safety."

Toyota's press conference takes place on April 4 at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan."

Benz GL450's good days will be over soon.

Minimum: Tundra's 5.7L v8 381hp/401Lb.ft #87 gas+6sp

The best: I hope it could be 5.7L with D4-S direct injection over 400hp, 430lb.ft + 8sp, 20mpg highway.

it's a safe bet that the range rover and GL450 will continue to outsell the LX many times over.

the land cruiser is great--especially priced in the 50s. however, it makes no sense to pay many thousands more for an LX.

The Land Cruiser and Lexus LX are exactly the same! The Lexus has quad headlamps and more wood.
Maybe the American LC is different, but I have just compared the European LC Amazon (you're LC) and it is a carbon copy, but with a Lexus badge. Touch screen, reversing camera, adjustable suspension, our Amazon has everything the Lexus does bar 1 thing. A wood gearlever.
I'm not trying to be rude, but they really are. If they aren't, please explain how. I was always under the impression that they were.
And just to say, the Toyota LC Amazon here costs over 95000 dollars. They sell about 3 a year.

regarding your comment "The Lexus brand is ten times better than the Range Rover and Mercedes. There's nothing similiar between the Landcuiser and LX. A LEXUS IS ALWAYS A LEXUS. PERIOD."

now contrast that with sales for 2006:
LX: 5,500
landcruiser: 3,300
range rover: 12,000
GL: 20,000
escalade: over 50,000

it's your opinion that lexus rules this category, but not the opinion of most people who actually buy a high-end SUV.

The current line of Land Rover products blows away the stuff they were making a decade ago. However, what they were making a decade ago was famously unreliable crap. Engines based upon an old Buick design didn't help matters.

Even a modern day Range Rover might get you a prime valet spot, but it might not get you home.

That's not to say they aren't good vehicles from a design standpoint, but to say their unreliable ways are in the past is quite foolish.

Rupert,

Clearly the IS, GS, and LS are fairly new cars next to the decade-old LX. "Roushed" leather was popular when the LX was first introduced. If the new one has that in its interior, then you can talk trash about how outdated it is.

It doesnt matter how popular rouched leather seats were when the LX was "Introduced". Thats what mid-life refreshing/restyling is for. You see they have made tweaks to the exterior of the LX470 over the years, why not tweak the weak interior?...

Not only is your never ending obssesive devotion to Lexus rather pathetic, but the fact you dismiss alternative views and ideas and vehicles for no reason other than to proliferate your own personal view is idiotic (dismissing the Range Rover and X5?), and making ridiculous claims about a non-existant as yet car, with no information at all, that are often wrong (since when is the Cayenne the class leader? 001 hasn't put it up yet.

No matter what Lexus says, this car won't be a performance leader.

No matter how much power it has, this car won't be a performance leader.

The GL's nimbleness is far and away the best in the full-size class. In addition, it has the beautiful interior and the off-road capability, as well as practicality, and a 25mpg diesel option.

I know what I'd get.

And yours that Lexus is the best at everything isn't?

Can you at least admit the GL is quite impressive?

I don't think the C is the best- I think the IS is better. I don't think the R is good at all. The SLK is my least-favorite roadster. The GLK will probably be pretty boring.

I thought the GL was just a big ML when it came out, and found it boring. Then, I read the reviews. I haven't driven it, but the car is said to have amazing handling for its size, without sacrificing customary Mercedes comfort or luxury. It also has a usable third-row. AND it's less money than an Escalade. It's my kind of full-size SUV.

There you go with that tit-for-tat blame game. Clearly I do not think that Lexus is great at everything, and even if I did, I wouldn't be trying to force that opinion down everyone's throat. What's even more shocking a revelation is that you've made all these claims without even driving the GL.

Let's see, you haven't driven the GL, and the LX isn't even out yet. And people talk trash about the Lexus fans?

You're right. I freely admit that I haven't driven the new GL450, unlike some who claim to have driven very expensive vehicles but really have not.

I made the "revelation" after I read review, after review, after review, just gushing over the GL's qualities. When it came out, I thought the LX470 was better, and I tried not to like the GL. However, it's just too good. It will take awhile before anyone else catches up... and that doesn't just mean Lexus.

I repeat- I wasn't talking about luxury. There's definitely a chance the LX will have a more luxurious interior than the Mercedes. I was referring to the performance of these vehicles. That's what sets the GL apart from the pack. Like the S-Class, the GL represents a truck that not only has a beautifully-made interior, but (so I've read), great handling to go along.

Can you admit that the LX570 probably won't surpass it in that respect?

So you stick by your claims still, after reading a few reviews? Have you even bothered to read any reviews of the LC or LX? I guarantee you there are more reviews just "gushing" over the off-roading capabilities of that legend. And again, obviously "handling" means more to you than off-roading capabilities, typical ignorance of most German fans.

The LC is dead in the US and Toyota is not likely to maintain both the LX and the LC. If the LX570 is based on the new Tundra platform, provides 380-400 hp with 6sp trans (it will at least have the 381hp in the Tundra), has fold flat 3rd & 2nd row seats, L-Finesse ext/int and can tow 10,000lbs...it'll have monster sales and its price and mpg will be irrelevant. It will challenge the Escalade for primo Lux hauler.

Towing capacity outside the US is a non-issue as ROW has nothing to tow. High end US owners of performance boats, race car trailers, lux campers, fishing boats and horse trailers are looking for an alternative lux tow vehicle to the GM's. I know...I currently own a GMC Denali for towing and if the new LX570 launched next week has the features above...I'll have one within a month of it's dealership debut.

ROW shows their ugly anti-American faces whenever they disparage large luxury SUVs. In reality, they're just showing their true oolors of jealousy that they can't afford large Lux SUVs, the gas that they use or the toys that they tow. Only difference now is that they camo their jealousy by masking it with their global warming concerns. Like the exhaust from a 10 mpg ferrari or MB 600 is somehow better for the climate.

Everyone should just face the facts...Americans buying lux suvs for toy towing is an "outrage" to the ROW only because they can't afford them or the toys they tow.

Landcruiser is synonymous with indestructability. When was the last time anything from Germany had that reputation?

The G-wagon might be on par (minus the extra room) but there is no way the new GL is just a daisy of a truck.

Landcruiser, G-wagon, Discovery II, Hummer H1 and Jeep YJ/TJ are the last real SUVs out there. Not all are reliable though.

The GL is one of the best offroaders in the business. Extremely capable offroad. Unlike the Audi Q7, which is more sports biased than the GL, the GL can peform in some of the roughest terrain with a high chance of making it out. I've heard of two German roadtests where the GL was cited as being better offroad than the Audi Q7.

Stop talking trash as usual, Huu.
