Lexus launched its new global marketing campaign at a glitzy New York party that targeted young hipsters with the fresh tagline of "Amazing in Motion" featuring 9-foot puppets.

Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda used the waterfront gala in New York's trendy Chelsea district on Friday night to paint the company's luxury brand as an avant-garde, aspirational car.

The party, with a preponderance of thick-rimmed Elvis Costello glasses, slinky black dresses, tattoos and nary a soul over 40, illustrated Lexus's ambition to reach younger customers.
