The Lexus IS 300h, the hybrid flagship of the all-new IS range, and main rival to the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4, is set to undercut all of its major competitors when it comes to running costs, the brand has claimed.

Boasting impressive official economy and emissions figures of 65.7mpg and just 99g/km CO2, the IS 300h, which is the first IS to feature Lexus’ prolific Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain, hopes to replicate the success of rivals’ equivalent 2.0-litre diesel models with its high-tech petrol-electric unit.
