Work on the successor of the McLaren 650S continues, as new details have emerged. Still wearing tons of camouflage, the prototype of the production model codenamed P14 is in testing phase, and is likely to be ready for official premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year, wearing the 720S moniker.

And there’s a big surprise coming from the British manufacturer, if we are to believe a new report from Autogespot. The familiar 3.8-liter V8 engine of the current generation of McLaren models will be replaced by a new, slightly bigger 4.0-liter biturbo unit with eight cylinders. As the name of the model suggests, power will be increased from the current 650 horsepower (485 kilowatts) in the 650S to the impressive 720 hp (537 kW). More powerful hybrid versions are also planned, but they will be reserved for later variants and other models.
