The record June sales pushed Mercedes-Benz past Audi as No. 2 luxury car manufacturer in the world. Mercedes-Benz said that in the first-half it sold with 1,750 more vehicles than Audi.

Still, both manufacturers are behind Bmw, which sold a total of 585,755 units in the first-half, remaining the largest luxury car manufacturer in the world. Although Audi sold more vehicles than Mercedes-Benz in the first five months of the year, the strong demand for the S-Class and E-Class helped the Stuttgart-based automaker achieve a total of 113,300 units in June.
