Mercedes C 63 AMG Estate: the new Official F1 Medical Car
Alongside the SL 63 AMG Safety Car, a second AMG high-performance automobile will celebrate its premiere at this season’s first Grand Prix in Melbourne, Australia: the C 63 AMG Estate Official F1™ Medical Car. At the start of every Grand Prix, the high-speed AMG estate car will follow the Formula 1 field on the first lap.

This is because the first lap represents a critical phase of the race in which the field of Formula 1 vehicles is especially tightly bunched. Also in the event of an accident during the race, the Medical Car is the first vehicle on the scene and is able to guarantee the fastest possible emergency treatment

Are you under the impression that the factory first aid kit that Lexus supplies is all the fast-response medical equipment required for an F1 race? That job requires a wagon of some kind, and I don't think the Pebble Beach RX was in the running...

Let's all take a moment to welcome the newest idiot to the AutoSpies community. Be sure to thank him for his useless, ignorant comments. God knows there aren't enough of those here already...

The IS-F does not have space for the medical equipment and it could not keep on the pace required to stay in line with race track traffic.

The car is beautiful. Maybe the US is finally starting getting over the Buick Roadmaster wagon stigma and realizing how great a performance wagon (avant, estate) can be.

Let the truth be told. In F1 they will always favor a European car and when you think of a European car Mercedes-Benz comes up to mind. Their not going to think of an IS-F before the M3/RS4 or the C63.

The C63 is no slouch. My colleagues have driven it. The quality of the new C-class is up to par with the prestigious three point symbol.

The IS-F sounds nice and i'm sure is of Japanese build quality standard. It's just in a world dominated by European luxury automakers Lexus to many is just an expensive Toyota. I am more biased towards my Merc but my Lex is doing the job very well at a more affordable price too.

Lets put it this way. In Japan their not going to have a Merc as a medical car in a Drift competition or whatever competitions they may have.

Lexus tried their best with the IS-F though must give respect. But majority would still choose the three German rivals.

"They make 4 cylinders and taxis."

Im pretty sure that their old taxis have lasted a long time. having them be taxis isn't a problem. your just uneducated.

Go0bama : if you're saying Merc's aren't "That" luxurious then you've never owned one.

Audi's make 2.0T "luxury" cars like the A4 so I don't get what you're talking about.

We could easily say "oh well the IS was just a Toyota Altezza, not luxury at all". Please don't get this site started.
