Hot indeed...but the wood steering wheel really says a lot about who the target audience is. Granted, it's probably an option (I hope), but I wouldn't turn this car down. Although I would choose an S600 if given a choice- maximum luxury and a killer bi-turbo engine.
I just hope the next-gen 7 Series can catch up if not outdo this Merc.

Even next to the S65, this is excessive.
Excessively gorgeous!

Awsomeaudi, there's no need when a v8 is powerful enough. That's a lot of punch for a ultra luxury saloon. It's more than enough to overtake 99% percent of the drivers on the road. =)
I just don't get the point of S65 and the S63. Should have stuck with just one from the get-go. However, as you know Mercedes likes to slap AMG on every line they produce so this only adds to it's bragging rights of powerful and special tuned engines.

Yes the wood grain steering wheel is optional. Me personally, I love lots of wood, but only if it's placed in the right spots in a cars interior. When there's too much it's tacky but it's just a steering wheel so for a luxury car wood is almost a must. Bentley, RR, Maybach, Jaguar have wood options for their models. It brings a warmth to the ride.
Anyway, the S63 looks hot and good to go!. It will be pretty rare to see an S63 or S65 out there as most consumers will most likely just get the S550. The extra power will not appeal to them unless they are a younger buyer; even then they may still find the S550 sufficient enough for their daily commute. In this case it doesn't come down to how deep your pockets are. It just boils down to the needs category while maintaining a high level of luxury.

I believe the S550 is sufficient for anyone except the owners of a Bugatti Veyron! 380hp, 5.5 seond 0-60, and extravagance aplenty. The S-Class is the world's most superfluous sedan, and in a good way!
My top luxury sedans, right now:
1. S-Class (all models)
2. S8
3. A8L/A8
4. XJ Series
5. 7 Series
6. LS460
The Phaeton isn't included because it's being phased out (but it probably would've beaten the 7 to #5), but I feel like I'm forgetting something.

And PLEASE don't say Q45. That isn't really a full-size sedan; it's closer to the M, which makes it obsolete because the M is better in every respect.

How is this compared to the S600 that has about equal amount of horsepower? I know that it should handle better, but the S600 is very quick with all that torque, not sure if the S63 AMG will be any quicker. The S65 AMG is also probably no quicker to 60 as teh S600 because of complete lack of grip, it might be quicker to 100 or so.

nice, the only thing i don't like about the new s-class is the interior. it's too curvy and the wood offered looks more fake than fake wood. bmw 7-series interior is much better but i swear-if you changed the merc badge on this picture to a bmw one it would look exactly like the 7-series.

Have you ever sat inside of an S550? It's beautiful, and it can be a base model and it still nearly matches the A8 for quality.

I don't know about that.
A couple my lawyer friends have new S550s (and one real friend), and they're fabulous, but they're not QUITE as beautiful and simple as [one of] my best friend's A8L. The A8L just has an effortless interior design that flows from one edge to another; the hump is what makes the S-Class slightly worse in my book.

Is it just me, but doesnt this look like a copy of the M5, inside and out? just like Mercs E class interior was a carbon copy of BMW`s 7 series interior. I think that Merc should try and be a bit more original.

First off, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAh. It does not look like a copy of the M5 inside and out. You are a disgrace to BMW because you don't know your info; yet you post on this website. *shakes head in disbelief*.
Secondly, the Mercedes E-Class does NOT look like a carbon copy of the BMW's 7-series. How on earth would someone be that dumb. Go check out their pictures. I can't see it. What world are you from? I think you need some glasses bud. That is the stupidest thing i've ever heard from anyone. E-class copy of 7 series.
Are you on crack? need a pipe? i have one that's made by Mercedes but badged by BMW.. errrrrrr lol.
**Sorry if offended you. I just totally disagree with you on that point. It's nothing personal. I am not starting any argument on here but your view points are totally off.

SpikeM5,
Lets not get rediculous now. This is a completely different and better looking car than the m5.
The S-class is definitely one of the top cars out right now, especially the S65 AMG.

The M5 has presence on the road, the only thing really different about this S class from other S class Mercs is the Badge, and the tailpipes (I still think it is a copy of the M5, get a picture of the two parked next to each other, and then see what you think.)

STUNNING ENGINE,CAN PROPELL SO HEAVY CAR IN JUST 4.6 SECONDS.AS FAST AS THE THE AUDI'S R8.
And 4.6 second is the Manufacture's claim.
REALLY AMG's 6.3 V8 is a engine to beat.

The 4.6 second 0-60 on the R8 is Audi's estimate; Audi's estimates are ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS too slow. The RS4, according to Audi, has a 4.8 second 0-60; the average I've seen is about 4.5 seconds and the lowest was a 4.3 done by Road & Track. I wouldn't be surprised if the R8 with the same engine (in a car that weighs 700lbs less) went four seconds flat.
The S63 is still a phoenomonal performer, though.

Sweet!!!With that said, the design and perfor are great, no abjection. But gotta have one comment though, why not make the wood parts it has optional with another choice, like black or carbon fiber i dunno, just a thought.

This Benz is the most beautifull one, i already love the new S class, but this is just spectacular, and looks much better than the M5(its just an ugly 5 series really) and is probably faster..

the 5 series isnt ugly. If u think its ugly then park it next to the competitors and u ll change ur mind. Its futuristic and agressive. So the M5 is a dream machine.
