Although the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) was full of vehicles that were able to be plugged in and had hybrid drivetrains, in the world of gasoline that's less than $2 a gallon, do they really matter? If history has shown us anything, it's that buyers want their space and utility. And when gas prices fall, they will go to their dealer and pick up the biggest, baddest machine money can buy.

So, it seems like Kia hit the NAIAS event on the nose with its debut of the Korean automaker's full-size sport-utility vehicle concept, the Telluride.

Looking like a cross between the Lexus LX with some cues taken from a variety of other European automakers, it was a blend of badass and sophistication.

Agent 001 had a great insight. He said, "Imagine if the Telluride was in Buick's booth, every one [the media] would be going crazy over it."

Obviously, it wasn't though.

Having said that, we were very impressed with the vehicle's exterior design that guaranteed it would have presence and, in addition, its well thought out interior. How could anyone resist a set of suicide doors and some proper recliners in the second row? Seriously.
