As far as I know, when it comes to all-new vehicle debuts at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), nothing is going to be as big as the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class. That's because this midsize luxury sedan is going to make a significant leap forward, though it's design is expected to lose that unique quality to it.

This could change though. There could be a surprise appearance.

To me, one of the most impressive elements about a three-pointed star launch is how the company conducts its research and development of all-new products. According to the video released featuring the all-new E, Mercedes deployed 1,200 prototypes across four continents and drove 12,000,000 KMs.

Perhaps Benz does a better job promoting its intensive effort than other manufacturers but that's some serious testing right there. And given how the company's products have become more robust in recent years, this is a welcome sign.

If you're looking for an all-new midsize luxury sedan, you may want to consider holding out for an all-new E. See why in the clip below.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class will receive its world debut at the Detroit motor show in January. This latest official video shows the new model in testing.
