The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday it is opening an investigation into nearly 400,000 Hyundai Sonata cars over reported complaints of rusting, including some that led to electrical problems.
The federal auto safety regulator said it has opened a preliminary investigation into 393,000 2006-08 Sonatas after receiving six complaints alleging rear suspension control arm failures related to rear subframe rust in 2006 Sonatas.
Of them, three report failures at highway speeds and two said the failure resulted in activation of the electronic stability control system.
